Volume Twelve - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - further aspects - Even More Moments Captured in Time - [vintage photo and postcard album] . . .
Entrance to Porthkerry Park, Cardiff. - A 'GD&DL' unused postcard held within the Penarth Dock Collection which is undated but probably dates to the early 1920's. [001]
Porthkerry Park, Barry - another of those idyllic pastoral scenes. I always found the park a wonderful place to give the dog (Rex and then Chum! - both Welsh saddleback, tricolour, sheep dogs) a run. Usually they ran behind the car as we drove though the park! The lower image has been colourised for effect. [001]
1930's - Viaduct, Porthkerry Park, Barry Island - The viaduct was, and still is, such an impressive feature of the park. This postcard is held within the People's Collection Wales and is credited to Barry Library. The postcard was published by Valentine's. [048]
Porthkerry Park, Barry - Photographed by T. Soames. - Terence Soames (Cardiff) Limited was registered as a company in 1946 with premises at Dumfries Place, Cardiff. Soames was an established aerial photographer and flew a Miles M.38 Messenger 2A aircraft which was initially built for RAF service during WWII but when retired became available for commercial use.
