The Beach, Swanbridge.
The Beach, Swanbridge - A view across to Sully Island with that infamous causeway to the island just out of view to the right! So many people have misjudged the tide and current over the years and lost their lives! I would date this Firth's Postcard as the early to mid-1950's as it is precisely as I recall the view as a child. Another heritage image held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20230603]

Swanbridge Beach, South, Nr. Penarth.

Swanbridge Beach, South, Nr. Penarth - A postcard view dating from just prior to WWI and published by Murrell's, Wholesale & Retail Stationers, of the Royal Buildings, Penarth. Dated July 1916 it was addressed to a Mrs. Marsh at "Woodbine," Flixton, Cheshire and was from Phyllis who was staying at number 10 Station Road, Penarth. She comments 'We arrived here about 9 o'clock last evening. The train was nearly an hour late.' - Now, does that sound familiar over a 100 years later? Another heritage image held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
