Cwrt-yr-Ala House, Michaelston-le-Pit, near Dinas Powis.

Dinas Powis - Cwrt-yr-Ala House, Michaelston-le-Pit, near Dinas Powis — the Rous family's 1819–20 mansion, photographed before its demolition in 1937. Up to that date, and between approximately 1908 and 1934/37, Cwrt-yr-Ala was occupied by William Henry Brain, our prominent Cardiff brewer. I've supp'd a pint or two of his Red Dragon in my time! Later called RD or Dark!

Frank John of the Post Office in Dinas Powis.

The postcard was published by Frank John of the Post Office in Dinas Powis. The postcard is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]

Cwrt-y-ralla. Dinas-Powis.

Cwrt-y-ralla. Dinas-Powis - Another approach to the spelling of the house and grounds near Dinas Powys, or is it Dynas Powis, or is it simply Dinky Poo! The postcard was sent during July 1909 from Laura to Miss L. Greenway of Holly House Cottage. It was raining in Dinas Powis today and on Wednesday she is going to Machen! This heritage postcard is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]

Dinas Powis, The Common.

Dinas Powis, The Common - A beautiful blue sky and a lovely meander over the common ground, then perhaps a stroll back to the village for lunch and a rest in the Star Inn! This Judges Limited postcard was sent during June 1979 from Marjorie whom, together with Muriel, was spending ten days with Ruth her school friend here.

During the medieval and early-modern periods, the Common at Dinas Powis formed part of the traditional system of common-land associated with a manor and village. Dinas Powis retained a Court Leet / Court Baron whom dealt with the management and governance of the common ; but this arragement ended in 1914.

Another heritage postcard is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
