Volume Twelve - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - further aspects - Penarth Dock Extension Works - 'Engineering' articles on progress . . . This is only carrying out the original scheme, and no Parliamentary powers will be required for that, but only to raise the capital. The existing dock is 2400 ft. long, and the proposed addition of 800 ft. will accordingly increase the area one-third. The number of tips on the existing dock are ten, and five new tips will increase the tipping capacity 50 per cent. No opposition is expected, as Lord Windsor is one of the promoters, and the Taff Vale directors have guaranteed a fixed dividend of 5½ per cent. per annum to the Penarth shareholders. - Engineering [627] [499] 19th November 1880.
April 1881 - Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway - In the House of Lords, on Monday, the Penarth Harbour, Dock and Railway Ball was read a third time and passed. - Engineering [627] [499] 8th April 1881.
June 1881 - Penarth Dock Extension - In connexion with the above scheme boring operations were commenced on Thursday, and it is anticipated that the general works pf excavation, &c., will soon be in full swing. - Engineering [627] [499] 24th June 1881.
