Volume Twelve - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - further aspects - Petroleum-Storage Installations at Avonmouth and at Cardiff [1890] . . . . The Caretakers' Houses
Close to the Boundary Line of the new Petroleum Storage facility at the Penarth Tidal Harbour a pair of semi-detached 'Houses' was built for the caretakers' of the site. These were painted white and were always noticeable in sunlight on the opposite bank of the River Ely estuary during the time I was apprenticed to fitting and turning at the Penarth Dock Engineering Company Limited. Note also the Ferry location! |
