Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Twelve - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - further aspects - 'Windjammers' and Penarth Dock . . . .

Outward bound for the far sea's trailing,
Bound for the looms of fate ;
Bound for the deeps, where petrels, sailing,
Scream of the old sea's hate.

Thirty sailors, and thirty singing,
Stretching the white sails tight ;
Tones of a ship's bells faintly ringing
Low o'er the rims of night.

Morning cold, on a cold sea lifting ;
Breakers surge and roll ;
Thirty dead men's bodies drifting
Toll of the old sea's toll.
