Volume Two - The Era of Optimism, Investment & Development - The age of global trade and optimism . . .

In 1905 Messrs. Tannett, Walker and Co., of Leeds, commenced the construction of the four tips No's. 8, 13, 19 and 20 ; two of these, No's. 8 and I3, were fixed tips. Tip numbers 4, 5, 11, & 12 were upgraded and replaced during the period 1912 to 1917 under the TVR regime. Then another spate of replacements and upgrades was undertaken during the period 1923 - 1927, under the new GWR ownership, which specifically included tip numbers 2, 9 & 10.

The National Archives hold the following records which require closer examination:

April 1904 - Construction of tips nos. 4 and 13.
