1901 - "Fatal Accident
- George Taylor a native of Appledore, and one of the crew of the ketch 'Heather Bell', lying in the Ely Tidal Harbour, fell from above the cross tree to the deck on the 29th ult., and died the same day at the Hamadryad Hospital from the effects of his injuries. At the inquest on Monday Dr. Hughes certified death to be due to effusion of blood on the brain; and the jury returned a verdict of Accidental Death."
Cardiff Times - 7th December 1901 [019]

For reference, the 29th ult., signifies last month whereas 29th inst., refers to the same month as the communication is dated. Julie recalls typing thus on many occasions using a manual typewriter at Messrs. Penarth Dock Engineering Company Limited. It is strange that so much of our language has fallen into misuse and disuse.
