River View, Victoria Wharf - The photograph is owned by a gentleman named Mr. Brian Jones whose grandfather was a Director of the South Wales Public Wharf, Warehouse & Transit Company Limited. In consultation with Mr. Ted Richards of the Roath Local History Society they contacted myself during February 2024 and we have confirmed together the location of this lovely photographic record of local heritage. The date of the photograph and its photographer has not yet been established. [1289]

Brian recalls : 'I used to visit Riverview, which I now remember it being referred to or simply the wharf, as a young boy. My Grandpa died when I was 12 so memories aren't clear but all I remember is the road leading to it with what I saw as a huge warehouse then the offices (in the background). The office my Grandpa had I do remember quite clearly.'

The colourised photograph and enlargements above indicate the layout of the buildings and the people who lived and worked at the Victoria Wharf. They capture daily life and speak a thousand words of days gone bye. [1289]
