◊ 1899 - Compensation Scheme for Coaltrimmers - New Scheme for Barry, Cardiff and Penarth - The Registrar of Friendly Societies has recently certified a mutual benefit scheme, arranged between coal shippers and trimmers at Cardiff, Penarth, and Barry, in connection with the CoaltrimmersUnion. This scheme has been adopted with a view of preventing friction and needless litigation between employers and employed, and will conduce to the continuation of the good feeling that has existed between them hitherto. Each party contributing to the scheme will receive the maximum allowance under the Workmen's Compensation Act of 1897. Barry Dock News [140] [361] 1st December 1899.

◊ 1901 - The Cardiff Directory listed : The Cardiff, Penarth and Barry Coal Trimmers Union at 42 Mountstuart square, with Samuel Fisher as the secretary.

◊ 1910 - Coaltrimmers' Agitation - Whatever doubts existed in the minds of some people as to whether the Cardiff coal-trimmers are really united or not in their demand for a half-holiday on Saturdays must be dispelled as a result of the meeting of coaltrimmers which was held at the Cory-hall, Cardiff, on Sunday afternoon. The meeting, which was presided over by the Lord Mayor (Alderman John Chappell), who is the president of the Cardiff, Barry and Penarth Coaltrimmers and Tippers' Union, was one of the largest held in the district for many years, no less than 160 coaltrimmers coming up from Barry alone.
