Volume Three - The Pontoon Era - The new pontoon commissioning and its early use . . .

The “Penarth Shipbuilding and Ship Repairing Company Limited” of 1878 has changed its name to the “Penarth Slipway and Ship-repairing Company” according a Cardiff Times [019] newspaper report of April 1910. The Dun & Bradstreet [070] record of 1961 however states the entity was the “Penarth Pontoon and Ship Repairing Company Limited”. An agreement between the TVR and the Penarth Pontoon and Ship Repairing Company Limited dated November 1910 relating to the tenancy of land for the new engineering works exists at the National Archives. [142] However, by the 1920's it was the Penarth Pontoon, Slipway & Ship Repairing Co. Ltd.

1914 - Penarth Pontoon - A Million Tons Dry-Docked - a photo of the steamship "Haigh Hall" on the pontoon and a newspaper report about breaking the million ton of ships repaired on the pontoon in the first four years of service.
