Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

Volume Eight - Pre-Victorian to the present day - more aspects - Moments captured in time

The Pier and the Paddle Steamers - I consider that I was lucky as a child to have had trips on the paddle steamers of the White Funnel Fleet which in the mid-1950's were 'Glen Gower', 'Glen Usk', 'Bristol Queen' and 'Cardiff Queen'. The 'Britannia' was apparently withdrawn from service during 1957, but I don't remember sailing her.

Pier, Esplanade and Steamer - More of the fine Victorian and Edwardian oilette coloured postcards from the Penarth Dock collection.

The Alexander Park, Penarth - The opening ceremony was in June 1902. The park used six and a half acres of the sixteen presented to the town by Lord Windsor in 1897. Mr. Samuel Thomas J.P. unlocked the gates with a silver key and declared the park open for the use of the people of Penarth for ever.
